- Background
Egypt’s National Initiative for Smart Green Projects (NISGP) represents a landmark national effort to accelerate the country’s transition toward a green economy. Launched under the auspices of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the initiative mobilizes stakeholders across all 27 governorates to develop innovative, technology-driven environmental solutions addressing climate change.
With over 12,000 submitted projects and 3,817 qualified entries, NISGP has become a nationwide platform for sustainability innovation, supporting sectors such as energy, agriculture, waste management, and biodiversity.
A critical pillar of this transformation is capacity building—ensuring that innovators, entrepreneurs, and organizations possess the skills needed to turn ideas into impactful, scalable solutions.
- The Challenge
Despite strong participation and innovation across Egypt, many project owners faced key challenges:
- Limited technical expertise in climate adaptation and mitigation
- Gaps in financial planning and feasibility analysis
- Difficulty integrating smart technologies (AI, IoT, data systems)
- Limited understanding of SDGs alignment and impact measurement
- Barriers to women’s participation and inclusive project design
- Lack of structured knowledge on scaling and replicability
To maximize the impact of NISGP, a structured and accessible capacity-building program was essential.
- YTG’s Role
Youthinkgreen Egypt (YTG) partnered with NISGP to design and deliver a comprehensive national capacity-building program tailored to the initiative’s participants.
Our mission was clear:
To equip participants with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to design, implement, and scale impactful smart green projects.
